Orange County Psychiatrist
Dr. Kenneth Sokolski

I am an established psychiatrist practicing in Orange County and would like to invite you to learn about my psychiatric practice and my philosophy in treating psychiatric patients.

I am a graduate of U.C. Irvine School of medicine in Orange County where I first became interested in pyshchiatry through my involvement in studies of brain metabolsim in psychiatric patients. I am a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society through which I have been awarded honors for excellence in the clinical practice of psychiatry. I completed my residency in Psychiatry and Human Behavior at U.C. Irvine in 1991 where I received awards for research in psychiatry and clinical care.

Not many people know that I also completed a Masters degree in marine biology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In addition, I am also a former Marshall and Thomas J. Watson Scholar. Since psychiatric residency, I have been a practicing psychiatrist, evaluating and treating patients privately in Irvine while serving on the Faculty of Psychiatry of the university. As a psychiatric faculty member, I have instructed medical students and residents in psychiatric practice, become involved in psychiatric research, and treated psychiatric patients at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach as well as at U.C. Irvine.

I have also worked as a consulting psychiatrist in private hospitals with seriously ill psychiatric patients. I have published over 30 scientific papers on the neurophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of mood and psychotic disorders and have been a Prinicpal Investigator on over one hundred clinical trials. These studies have included conditions involving both psychiatry and neurology. I am keenly interested in new treatments in psychiatry and read the psychiatric literature on a daily basis so that my patients can benefit from my knowledge of the most recent treatments in the field of psychiatry.

In addition to using medications to treat behavioral conditions, I have trained extensively in psychotherapeutic aproaches so that I can offer my patients a full range of options in treating their psychiatric condition. I believe that combining medical and psychotherapeutic approaches frequently offers the most effective treatment approach in psychiatry.
